Tun Dr Ismail College's Naming History (KKTDI) UPM

Tun Dr. College Ismail was previously known as the Third Residential College for a period of 20 years, from 1975 to 1995.

During Tan Sri Dato 'Dr. Syed Jalaludin bin Syed Salim has been the Vice-Chancellor of UPM, and he has directed that residential colleges be named.

Therefore, Dato 'Dr. Idris Abdol as Principal of the College at that time took up the challenge and became the first residential college in UPM to be renamed Tun Dr Ismail College.

According to Dato 'Idris Abdol's experience, he has sought permission from Tun Dr Ismail's wife, Toh Puan Norasyikin Ismail to honor the name of Tun Dr. Ismail. Ismail is the new name of the Third College. 

By watching College President Tun Dr. Ismail for the 1995/1996 session, Brother Shahrudin Mahadi, had traveled to the Tomb of the Hero to visit the tomb of Tun Dr. Ismail, reciting the sacred verses of the Quran and acting as a token of his blessing for the use of the name of the late Tun Dr. Ismail as a college name

College Name of Tun Dr. Ismail was officiated by T.Y.T Tun Dato 'Seri (Dr) Haji Hamdan Bin Sheikh Tahir, Chancellor of the University of Agriculture Malaysia on March 23, 1995.

Since then, Tun Dr. College Ismail continued to excel and became a college of the best in line with the qualities and exemplars of Tun Dr. Ismail. 

Then, in 1997, Toh Puan Norashikin was crowned a patron of Tun Dr. College. Ismail by UPM Vice-Chancellor Tan Sri Dato 'Dr. Syed Jalaludin. Evidence of respect for the KTDI was presented in the New Strait Times newspaper article, March 27, 1997 (22 years ago).
